About this random username generator

Every great online identity starts with a username that sticks. Whether you are joining a new game, creating a social media account, starting a streaming channel, or need a fresh handle because your usual name is taken everywhere, a random username generator takes the frustration out of the process.

This free tool builds usernames from curated word banks — dozens of adjectives, nouns, first names, last names, and cute animals — combined with the style you choose. Pick from five styles: Fun for playful handles, Gamer for handles ending in digits, Professional for first-and-last-name formats, Cute for animal pairings, and Cool for sharp modern combos. Type your own word to personalize every suggestion, toggle numbers or symbols to revive taken names, and generate up to 50 usernames per click.

Everything runs entirely in your browser with cryptographic randomness — no sign-up, no saved lists, and nothing sent to any server. Your username ideas stay completely private to you.

How to use it

  1. Set "How many usernames" (1 to 50).
  2. Choose a "Style": Fun, Gamer, Professional, Cute, or Cool.
  3. Type a word into "Your word (optional)" to include it in every username.
  4. Tick "Include numbers" to append random digits, and "Include symbols" to join words with _ or .
  5. Click "Generate usernames" to build your batch.
  6. Click "Copy usernames" to copy the whole list, one username per line.

The method behind it

Each style follows its own pattern. Fun combines an adjective with a noun ("BouncyOtter"); Gamer does the same but always ends with two random digits ("StealthNinja42"); Professional pairs a first name with a last name ("EmmaCarter"); Cute pairs a cute adjective with an animal ("FluffyBunny"); Cool pairs an adjective with a noun in a sharper modern style ("NeonPhantom"). If you tick "Include numbers", every style appends random digits — one to three digits for most styles. If you tick "Include symbols", the word parts are joined with a randomly picked underscore or dot instead of camelCase. Your keyword is cleaned before use — letters and numbers only, capped at 20 characters — and it replaces the first part of the pattern, so every username in the batch contains your word. Every batch is guaranteed unique: the tool re-draws until all usernames in the batch are different. All randomness comes from crypto.getRandomValues(), the browser's cryptographic random number generator, with rejection sampling so every word in each bank has exactly equal probability. Draws are independent and unweighted, so no style produces predictable results — click again for a genuinely fresh set.

Frequently asked questions

Is this random username generator really free?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up and no limits. Generate up to 50 usernames per click, unlimited. There are no accounts, no paywalls, and no watermarks on anything you copy.

Will these usernames be available on the platform I want?

This tool creates the ideas — it cannot check availability on other platforms. Combinations are random and unique within your batch, but popular words may already be taken somewhere. If your favorite is taken, tick "Include numbers" or "Include symbols" to create variants like ShadowFox_42 that are far more likely to be free.

Can I include my own word or name in the usernames?

Yes. Type it into "Your word (optional)" and it becomes part of every generated username in the batch. The tool keeps only letters and numbers (up to 20 characters) so the result always works as a handle.

Are my usernames saved or uploaded anywhere?

No. The word banks live in the page itself, and your usernames exist only in your current browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, stored, or logged — close the page and your list is gone.

Worked example

You need 10 handle ideas for a new gaming channel. Set "How many usernames" to 10 and choose the "Style" Gamer. Type "shadow" into "Your word (optional)" so every idea carries your brand, and tick "Include symbols" for that gamer look. Click "Generate usernames" and you get 10 unique handles like ShadowPhantom_73 or Shadow.Fox_19 — every one guaranteed different, each cryptographically random so the combinations are genuinely unpredictable. Pick your favorite, click "Copy usernames" to save the full shortlist to a note, and check availability on your platform.
